Application Information

Acton Family Giving is a sister organization of Sunlight Giving. Both are staffed through Pacific Foundation Services (PFS), which provides administrative support to the fund. As a result, Acton Family Giving shares the application portal with Sunlight Giving, supported by PFS. You may receive auto-generated emails from Sunlight Giving and/or Pacific Foundation Services during the application process. Don't worry, you're in the right place and talking to the right people.

Now, let's get started!

Log into the system:

You and your organization have profiles created already! If someone else from your team will be filling out the application and needs a user log in added, please let us know so we can update your records.

Please note that our system does not auto-save, so be sure to click “Save Draft” at the bottom of the page periodically as you work.

1. Go to the Application Portal
2. Log In

Your username is your email address. Your temporary password is "welcome".

3. Update Your Password

You will be prompted to enter your temporary password again, and change your password on the next page.

4. Update Your Information

Review and update your information we have entered by clicking on the Organization Profile and Personal Profile. The Organization Profile is also where you will upload your organization's logo.

5. Start Your Application (see fields below!)

Click the “New Application” icon under the “Acton Family Giving” header (below General Information and Sunlight Giving). Fill out required fields and upload required documents. Periodically click “Save Draft” at the bottom of the page as you work. To access draft applications, log in to the portal and click on “Application in Progress” to view and complete your application. When finished, click "Submit".

We want to get to know you without taking up too much of your time and energy. If you can answer in 200 words, that’s great. If you prefer to write something longer, that’s fine too. Please feel free to use bullet points / incomplete sentences - we’re much more interested in content than presentation.

Information that you’ll be asked to provide:
  • Director/CEO

  • Your organization’s mission statement
     
  • How your organization's work aligns with our Empathy Building initiative programs, approaches and priorities (narrative, up to 350 words)
     
  • Describe the community you serve: include population demographics, number served, and geographic reach  (narrative, up to 350 words)
     
  • Current Year Operating Budget
     
  • Projected In-Kind Revenue
     
  • Projected Foundation Revenue
     
  • Top Three Foundation Gifts within past 12 months
PDF documents to upload:
  • Current year operating budget
     
  • Most recent complete-year financials (audited, if available)
     
  • Year-to-date balance sheet and income statement (from within the last three months)
     
  • List of committed and pending corporate/foundation funders and the amounts of their gifts

Miscellaneous additional information that you think would be helpful (strategic plan, annual report, board list, program documentation aligned with our empathy building initiative), but this is COMPLETELY optional.

Grant Amounts

You will notice that there is not a field for Requested Grant Amount. We determine grant amounts internally by evaluating all organizations individually and taking into consideration mission alignment, reach, approach to work, budget, and population served. 

Application Review

Once you submit your application, you and your program contact will receive an email confirmation. We will review your application and circle back with any questions or follow up within 30 days.
